Benedicta lost her father during an attack on her village by Muslim Fulani herdsmen. After this tragedy, her mother left Benedicta in the care of her widowed grandmother, who was already raising several other children.

As the challenges of providing for the family increased, her grandmother sought help so Benedicta could receive the care, stability, and opportunities she needed. Benedicta was welcomed into the Seeds of Hope Nigeria Safe House on December 17, 2021, where she now lives in a safe and nurturing environment.
